HAPPY FATHER`S DAY - CHEERS TO ALL DADS!

This year, we are celebrating Father's Day (also known as Men's Day) in Germany on May 26, 2022, which always falls on the public holiday of Ascension Day, on a Thursday, and therefore 40 days after Easter Sunday.
On Father's Day, men are allowed to celebrate themselves and we understand that all too well - because we do too. After all, our dads are the first men in our lives who protect us from the world, give us a sense of security, spur us on to new adventures and fulfill our every wish.
Dads are the best storytellers, drivers, trip organizers, saviors in times of need, sports coaches, craft geniuses, walking encyclopedias and our absolute role models. We love and celebrate our fathers for all this and so much more and want to show this on Father's Day.
Where does the Father's Day tradition come from?
The roots of modern Father's Day can be found in the USA, where this day of honor for fathers was introduced in 1909. Inspired by Mother's Day, which was first celebrated in the USA in 1907, the idea for a Father's Day can be traced back to Sonora Smart Dodd. She wanted to thank her father, a widower who had raised six children on his own. She sought support from the church, local businesses and government officials and was successful: on June 19, 1910, Father's Day was celebrated for the first time in a small American town. It was declared an official holiday in the USA in 1972 and is officially celebrated every year on the third Sunday in June. In Germany, the current form of Father's Day celebrations emerged at the end of the 19th century in Berlin and the surrounding area, and was probably initiated by breweries for economic reasons. This is also where the custom arose that "Father's Day is a purely male affair" and is celebrated with a men's party. According to tradition, this was probably already the case with Christian rites where male groups celebrated and came together on Ascension Day. Ascension Day has been a public holiday since 1934.
There are many different dates around the world to celebrate Father's Day, but the same wish applies internationally: we want to honor fathers on this day and make them happy with special gifts, experiences and attentions. For some years now, the trend towards celebrating Father's Day has been more in the direction of a family celebration, with the idea of parents coming to the fore and so excursions, a bike ride, hike or a sociable barbecue with the family are often planned. This way, the whole family can enjoy the wonderful Father's Day tradition and celebrate dad together.
